Edavaka Mission

The Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma was instrumental in the formation of the Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelistic Association founded in 1924. The primary objective of the organization is to lead every member to a spirit filled and witnessing Christian life. To achieve its purpose, the Association inculcates in each of them the consciousness that he or she is specially called to fulfill the royal command of Jesus Christ, "making all nations disciples, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you".

At the parish level, the Voluntary Evangelistic Association is known as the Edavaka Mission. Members of the St. Mathew's Mar Thoma Church Edavaka Mission meet regularly for fellowship, Bible study and prayer at 7:30 pm on Thursday at a member’s residence. In addition, we have several activities planned throughout the year. During the summer, Edavaka Mission members visit all interested families to share the importance of family prayer and true worship. It is in genuine and true worship that God's presence is felt, God's purposes revealed and God's power displayed.
