“Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity (1 Timothy 4:12 NIV)”. As a youth group we strive to fulfill these important instructions in everything we do. We are a vivacious group, blessed with many talents and the motivation to make a difference.

As a committee, our mission is to unite our youth of all ages, regardless of gender or personality, and together embark on fellowship with Christ. We hope that together, we can not only grow in strength, but also as individuals and collectively in faith. In support of this long term goal, we are proud to call ourselves 'AWAKE Youth'. Using Ephesians 5:14 (For it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: 'Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you') as inspiration, 'AWAKE' for us means a new way of thinking and a new means for us to live, worship and gather together in Christ.

Recently, the youth group has grown tremendously and our relationships have grown to create a family that supports each other. This support system is crucial as the youth of today are the church of tomorrow. We want to use our youth fellowship as an avenue through which we can find the answers to our questions, pray for those in need, glorify Our Father through praise and worship sessions, and ultimately find true faith in God. We hope to build leaders among ourselves by cultivating not only our faith and confidence, but also by building our relationships with God and our reliance on Him. We are constantly seeing new faces in our church and we work actively to engage these youth so that they too can become part of a greater fellowship and friendship.

Though we have seen great growth in numbers, in 2009 the committee will focus on growing spiritually through Christian service. We will continue to develop community service projects that aim to lend a hand to those in need, while fulfilling our duty to walk in the path of Jesus.

The 2009 Committee would like to officially welcome all youth and ask for your participation in youth events so that our goals are successfully fulfilled. Look forward this year to enlightening monthly Prayer Meetings, Fellowship and Outreach days, Mexico Mission, Semi-formals, Retreats, Picnics and much more! Our prayer meetings have been amazingly successful so far, and as a committee, we hope for the same in the months to come.
