The Senior Members League of the St.Mathew’s Mar Thoma Church was established in 2006 and inaugurated in July during the Parish day celebrations. The whole purpose of this organization is to provide information and adequate knowledge to seniors that will help their physical, mental, and spiritual development. To this end, we organize meetings every month and a keynote speaker gives a talk on a subject relevant to senior’s interest. We also plan to arrange small trips and conduct prayer sessions for special needs.
Within the last two years more than a dozen topics were discussed. In addition to listening to the speaker, we also have time for discussion, songs and prayer during the session. Usually the meetings are arranged on the first Monday of every month at 7.30 PM and lasts for about 90 minutes to two hours. The vicar, Rev. Alex P John presides over the meetings that are held in member’s residences.
We believe that every individual has a special talent or knowledge that he/she can impart to others and willing people are invited to contact the coordinator to schedule his/her presentation in one of the upcoming meetings. Knowledge is power and there is no age limit for acquiring knowledge. We like to hear from people who are experts in Leadership, Decision making, Organizational behaviour, community development, volunteering, reducing insurance premiums, cutting utility costs, fuel efficiency, alternate energy, or any relevant topics. Please feel free to contact the vicar if you have any questions.
